Hi, I've had some issues with my game freezing up, then turning black and crashing (window stays open though) while playing SMP. I would've chalked it up as my machine not being up to the task coupled with the fact that SMP is very buggy, but...
The problem is, I played for literally HOURS before this happened the first time. Obviously I lost a lot of stuff and was pissed off, but reckoned I had been lucky when it hadn't crashed on until then. So I relog and keep playing. And it happens again. Again. Again. Again. Soon I could barely fix the damage in my patch of wheat (I crashed three times while trying to fix one spot (making wooden hoe and getting the seed) in the field.) that a griefer had destroyed earlier.
Why is this happening now? It makes me sad, cause despite all it's bugs, SMP is really fun... Has anyone had any similar experiences?

First of all: Deleting Minecraft.JAR has broken my game, I open it and login, and is greeted by an updater screen. The bar fills to just about the end, and it says "Done Loading", but is stuck there permanently. Thank god for backups :tongue.gif:
Second: I started having the crash after upping my draw distance to FAR when I tried finding the spawn from a constructionsite I visited. I completely forgot about that, and it's most likely the source of my troubles. Thanks!
not only do you have to delete the minecraft.jar file. but there is also a version file that tells the .exe what you have. so you have to delete the version file as well, so the .exe thinks you don't have anything and thus will initiate a re download of the .jar files
