Ok so two chunks in my multiplayer map have been corrupted. The game recreated them poorly. Basically both turned into perfectly square lakes. Problem is that they took out some projects that my players had pain stakingly worked on including the entrance hall to our base, AND our brand new farm~!
Anyway, I have a backup of the map but it is old enough that a lot of exploration, and recent projects aren't included in it. Does anyone know of a way to copy the chunks that were corrupted from the old file into the new one? I don't mind copying the chunks's files or using a map editer, whatever it takes. PLEASE HELP!
It seems you have answered your own question at the end of your post. Use a map editor like MCedit and select the missing areas save them load your map with the missing areas load the chunks and place them in the appropriate spots. The GUI of MCedit is fairly simple, i was able to use it appropriately after 15 minutes of playing around with it.
You should consider using cuboid to create backups of your more precious creations so you can automatically restore them with a simple command in game.
