    Quote from RenderedUnsafe, »
I wouldn't know anything about specs, haha.

    4gb RAM
    Intel(R) Core i5 CPU
    32 bit operating system.
    Windows 7
    M430 @ 2.27GHz
    Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator HD

Should be fine, I've only got 3gb ram and I can run it smoothly, without any real fps issues.
Cba to check, but I think my cpu is worse than yours too X_X

I started a new world and went exploring.

I found that the oceans are deeper and that there are under-water entrances to caves (never encountered this before).

I'll post a vid of it in a few days or so.

Could be, many people have encountered this.
Doesn't seem very rare, but who knows :tongue.gif:
Still adds a cool water exploration aspect to the game.

I found an above sea level lake, and I was wondering if anyone else has seen this type of thing, as I thought that the only water was below sea level. I have only seen this in Beta, which is why it's in here.

Can someone give me an approximate maximum width of a map? And does it loop at the end? Or just end? I was wondering about making a looping railway that never turned..like...just hack in a tonne of tracks, cobble to put them on and tools then head north for example, picking a elevation then laying tracks excavating and bridging where needed.

From what I've heard it's 'infinite' in a loosely based manner.

Someone told me it takes like 2 real life years to walk completely around the minecraft world.

As far as I know it'll just keep generating the more you keep walking, which in turn enlarges the file size.
In order to walk all the way around (if it's even possible) you'd have one large file and one heck of a journey.

posted a message on Still no 'sleep mode'?
    Quote from Mince »
I am a little surprised that there is still no way of speeding up night times in single player mode. Surely if there was an option for some sort of sleepmode which makes non daylight hours go by x3 the speed they normally do but your character becomes 'inactive', it would make the game a lot more enjoyable for many players? I do not know how hard this option would be to implement but I really wish the nights were not so lengthy in duration. If not a sleep mode then possibly some way of shifting how long nighttimes are? Maybe options like 'short, medium, long' or something along those lines? I know this is unrealistic in terms of gameplay but so many features are already customisable so why not this also? I mean.... it would only be available in single player mode so really the only person you are cheating is yourself and we already do that with 'peaceful mode'. This is just a suggestion and my own personal opinion but I would really like something of this sort implemented in the future.

I think this kind of defeats the purpose of survival, leaving no real challenge if you can just sleep away the nights, although if he implemented more daylight aggressive mobs that may be a great addition.

There is actually a total lunar eclipse occurring right now, so I can see this as a possibility.. maybe as a reference to the one happening right now.

if you don't believe.. google it.

yeah I'm actually watching it live right now.
That, would be so amazing if he did that.
However, I was on for like 5 hours today and saw nothing of the sort, unless he set it to only happen between certain hours? :s

Dunno what i/o means, I tried to up the allocated memory and it helped a bit but It was still laggy as hell, so I upped it again and now it wont start the server. I'm restarting the computer as we speak.

    Any other solutions?

posted a message on Extreme Server Lag
Well, I finally got a minecraft server up and running on my server computer (which is not located at my house) and everything is running fine connection wise (meaning people can connect, etc.) The only problem is the extreme lag we're having. For example, as soon as you spawn the map doesn't like to generate so you just fall until it generates, which leaves you with a mere half a heart left before death.

Another issue we're having is when you break blocks, either you don't get them and the block you broke respawns after a few seconds, or it takes a long time and randomly the block will fly into your inventory. Also, it's rare to see other players and monsters moving. Normally, all players and monsters are standing still, and if you wait long enough you'll start losing damage and die from monsters. I know the players aren't moving because me and my buds were on skype and when they were in the server, we all noticed nobody moving, except maybe 1 person.

Also, when we type I notice that the server itself receives the typing, but takes varying amounts of time to send through for others to see it.

If anyone has any recommendations that would be very helpful.

    tl;dR?

Huge lag issues, blocks take forever to go into inventory, cant see players/monsters moving, typing takes ages although the server receives it right away.
