Again with the fanboys................ Beta usually has most if not ALL of the features of the final, FINISHED product. Beta is for fixing the many many bugs. Apparently Notch was too money-hungry and forgot this. There are still many, many, many bugs, and Notch is yet to add half of the features he promised. But alas, you fanboys will keep worshiping Notch,
so fanyboys, forget what I just said because you are in denial.

Dec 22, 2010Aww :sad.gif:Posted in: Survival Mode
Well, what I have in the room is a tile of lava (incinerator) a workbench, 7 signs, and 4 chests. Is there any way I could disguise it?
Oh, I should tell you about my secret entrance :biggrin.gif: I have, below my incenerator, the entrance to my (whatever it's going to be lol). This is a 1x1 tunnel straight down. I have a ladder under the lava, then water below that to take off the burn. Then it's a straight fall down (you can take the elevator back up). At the bottom is water that flows from the side. Just one square, but it takes off any fall damage. If anyone finds this, I want them to die unless the do something secreter first!
Dec 22, 2010I looked at a lot of videos, and a lot of threads, but I can't figure out how to do this. Basically I want to use a furnace to turn off a trap (I still have to think of a trap). I want to do this buy putting a log in the furnace to turn off a trap. I want to put a log in the furnace in order to turn on the redstone in order to turn off a trap at the bottom (I still have to think of one). But when I'm testing my furnace to redstone, I can't get it to work. I can only get it to turn on a redstone torch, and then the redstone torch is on forever, it won't turn off. it is this:Posted in: Survival Mode
With the torch being attached to the backside of the furnace. Any idea how to do this?

If they were optional, Notch wouldn't have as many people as he does giving him feedback. More feedback = quicker fixes, quicker fixes = more content dev time, more content dev time = golden quicker.
Also, this is an online game with servers that need a specific client version to connect to it due to hooks etc. You don't want to see "Server X ( ver A 1.26.2) now accepting players" now do you? Having to match up client versions.
Just be happy that your even able to play this amazing game in it's alpha/beta stages. You should have known what you were getting into when you payed.
He has millions of people. He has enough people to give him feedback. If 1% of those people were to test the next patch every time it came out, he would have tens of thousands of people (might be hundreds of thousands, I think Minecraft is at the 10 million point now).
I think matching up the client and server versions is perfectly fine. It's a small game, it doesn't matter to have multiple versions.
As to "I should have known what I was getting into". Yes, I read the terms and conditions, it didn't say there would be mandatory updates that would break the game. No, this isn't a terribly big deal, but it is, I believe, illegal and morally wrong.

If you pay for a product, the product better work. Sure, Minecraft just entered beta, but I paid for a version that worked, and I don't want that taken away for me. I paid for it, so I should get it.
Updates should be optional, and roll-back-able, end of story.
1. You paid half the price of a game that isn't released yet.
2. The game works, just not bug free yet, IT ISNT RELEASED YET.
3. IT ISNT FLIPPING RELEASED YET!!!!
Im assuming you've played quite a bit of this game so far online with your friends, for $10 do you think you've gotten more enjoyment and entertainment out of it than you might have gotten for a movie at a theater? Stop being such a drama queen about it and realize that the game is progressing and getting better! BIG DEAL that you've gone a day without your precious server being able to be used. Id suggest that if thats a bit too hard for you to deal with, you crawl back to your mothers warm supple busom and cuddle up for a while, child.
Maturity. Heard of it?
Why don't you stop kissing Notch's ass? Maybe think for yourself a bit? Have you ever seen any other beta/alpha for a game? In the beta and alpha, MOST if not ALL of the features are implemented. Yet Notch is adding stuff bit by bit. It's a slow, glitchy, badly programmed game that's grabbed everyone's attention because it's fun. Yet there's so much potential that it doesn't live up to, and I don't think it ever will. He claims there will be many modes, yet in the beta, in which most features are supposed to be implemented, we are yet to see any of these. He seems to be against the community. He's against modding the game, even if it adds features that he neglected or new things that make the game more fun (and I mean, really, this game is a giant sandbox with no point or goal; it gets boring unless there are different things to do once in a while).
Let me give an example to get this idea through your thick skull. You buy a phone from a new phone provider. You've had it for 2 months, and it's worked just fine, and you like it. Suddenly, without warning or any choice, the phone is updated and you are unable to call or text anyone. You're still paying for a useless phone. Nowhere in the contract or terms and conditions did it say they were allowed to update or break your phone without your permission. This update is not required to operate with their phone towers, they just updated because it was part of their new campaign.
I don't care if it's a BIG DEAL, it's morally and legally wrong. (and yes, it's released. it's released to millions of people, in case you haven't noticed)

I payed 10 Euros for this game, and now the only part of the game that I play is broken. I didn't want to update, but it does it automatically. (DON'T say things like go play SP NUB, because I payed for the game, and I get to choose what I want to play). Even if he gives a disclaimer saying that multiplayer is glitchy, I don't think it's ethical for Notch or any other game developer to REQUIRE mandatory updates if those updates will break the game.
Actually, you paid for the rights to play an early version of the game, at a discounted rate even.... You know what Alpha and Beta mean in the digital world, yeah?
We are the testers, so it's not a matter of ethics, it's a matter of him releasing the latest version for the world of testers to have at so they can start getting bug reports from enough sources.
TBH, I am able to play on my multi server just fine since 01... so if you are unhappy with the current beta, then just wait until the game is gold and you can download that version... Omit your 'right' as a early-payer to play a development version of a work in progress...

Dec 13, 2010I'm thinking about getting into modding, and I will start when the beta comes out (so I don't have to redo everything). I was wondering, what is the difference is when making ssp mods and smp mods?Posted in: Mods Discussion
To clarify, I would take a look at mods and minecraft source, but my computer is currently unplugged and retired, and the computer replacing it (it's my first computer build) is currently in a state of distress :sad.gif:

Banned before?: no
Why should you be accepted into Herocraft?: i like creating stuff and building. i'm kind of add, so I can continue building monstrous creations long after someone else would give up. I never really did anything in WoW, I just explored and wall-jumped, so this is kind of my thing.
Addn. Info: send me a pm if I get in, because this thing is 100 pages :ohmy.gif: thanks!
