Where do lava temples spawn? What blocks are they built with? How much health do the new mobs have? How much damage do they deal?

No support unless you explain the points above. And I don't think copying te ocean monument to the Nether is a creative way to implement the sponge.

Obviously Lava Temples spawn in Lava Oceans in the Nether. I already said they use the same materials as Nether Fortresses (Nether Brick). Because they are the Nether version of Overworld mobs they will have the same health as them. Also I forgot to mention that Fire Guardians shoot fire balls like ghasts.

I like the full idea of the temperature. Just not... seasons, It seems better fit if all the seasonal based biomes were removed, but then that would make a big impact on the Minecraft community, and the game itself. Overall, this seems better fit for a mod...

What "seasonal based biomes" are you referring to?

I think it's OP because a regular sponge (which has a main purpose of soaking up water..) would soak up LAVA. Which is, obviously flammable, would burn the sponge. (unless it had water, then I don't know what it would do then, water has a slight advantage over lava...).

I guess it could maybe be a different type of sponge but I don't know what that would be. Also instead of it being crafted it would probably come from some kind of Nether ocean temple (like a Lava Temple) that has Fire Guardians that are fire resistant and drop the new type of sponge. Actually that is a really good idea so I will update the suggestion as soon as possible.

I definitely think that chain armor should be craftable. Is there a reason why it is not craftable?

It used to be crafted with fire but you can't get fire anymore so you can't craft it.

Why would you spend your iron on this when you can just make... iron armor? Which is far better than chain armor.

I suggest a different recipe. Maybe not stone, but a different recipe using a resource cheaper than iron. I am aware that this yields more armor, but honestly, if you had enough iron to make enough chain for a full set of this stuff, you would just spend it on iron armor.

No support; you wouldn't make this if you could just use the iron.

Well it takes 24 iron ingots to make Iron Armor and 24 chains to make Chain Armor. 4 iron ingots makes 8 chains which means it takes half the amount of iron to make Chain Armor so even though it has half the durability it takes half the iron so it doesn't matter.

To all the people who say that not being able to craft Chain Armor makes it cool and special I think that it should be able to be crafted. Because then you can have enchanted Diamond Armor as your "special armor".

Also to all the people who say I did the math wrong I have edited it so the Chain Armor has the same durability as it does currently.

Redundant. There is a far more fleshed out version of this idea with a mod attached to it right here:

    http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/minecraft-discussion/suggestions/2451838-the-soul-sponge-a-new-way-to-soak-up-fiery-blocks

I have already been told about this but I don't see why it is better than my suggestion. If you could explain this to me I could possibly change stuff to make it better.

I don't really see how it's OP. If you could explain to me why you think it's OP I could possibly change it to make it less OP.

It also doesn't make sense to use a furnace to put out a fire... what about just putting a water bucket + flaming sponge in the crafting grid?

Yeah I guess that would be better to do it that way but I never thought of that.

Yeah maybe I should add making signs out of different types of wood to the suggestion because that is a pretty good idea.

    1. How would you know if you were going to Burn or freeze to death, would there be an indicator on your screen?
    2. Heat lamps seem a little too expensive
    3. Some biomes already represent seasons.

There would be a thermometer in the corner of your screen that shows if your temperature is too high or low because if your temp is good it's green and if your too hot it turns red and if your too cold it turns blue. Also if you start to freeze the outer part of your screen turns blue, there is a message in the chat saying "You are starting to freeze" (or "Player Name is starting to freeze" on a server), and you slowly start loosing hearts. Also if you start to burn you catch on fire like you would if you touched fire or lava.

Also instead of going to find a snow biome you could just wait a couple of Minecraft days until it turns to Winter and it could snow right outside your house!

posted a message on Seasons and Temperature

(I have updated this from when I originally posted this suggestion so please update your comments if I fixed the stuff your complaining about. Also to all the people who say this is a bad idea because I found a way to turn each season bad only Summer and Winter have disadvantages (freezing and over heating) and Spring and Fall are fine. But if you turn temperature off none of them have any disadvantages.) I think Minecraft should have seasons and temperature. BTW this suggestion only uses items that already exist in Minecraft and doesn't have any new items. Here is an explanation of each:

    Temperature:

If you get too hot you can over heat if you don't cool down very quickly by drinking water. Also if you get too cold you can freeze to death so you need to warm up very quickly to do this you can stand near a torch, fire, or lava. There will be a thermometer in a corner of your screen that turns red if your hot, blue if your cold, and green if your in the middle. Also if you start to freeze the outer part of your screen turns blue, there is a message in the chat saying "Player Name is freezing", and you slowly start loosing hearts. If you start to over heat the outer part of your screen turns red, there is a message in the chat saying "Player Name is over heating", and you slowly start loosing hearts.

    Seasons:

There will be 4 seasons just like in real life so here is an explanation of all of them:

Summer: In summer it is really hot so you can over heat (as I mentioned above) so you need to protect yourself from the sun by wearing a hat (any helmet in Minecraft). If you wear a hat you can still over heat but not as quickly. The better the hat is the longer it takes for you to over heat. Also if you swim in water it is impossible for you to over heat.

Autumn: In Autumn it is usually pretty nice temperature not too hot or cold. Also leaves can "fall off the trees" and despawn.

Winter: In Winter it gets really cold and you can freeze (as I also mentioned above) so you need to stay warm by putting on clothes (any armor in Minecraft). The more protection the armor gives the more it keeps you warm although you can still freeze it just takes longer. Also if you are a house with lots of torches they will keep you warm and you can't freeze. It can also snow in any biome accept for deserts.

Spring: In spring there is also pretty nice weather. The leaves grow back on the trees and more flowers can grow (only on grass of course). Also it rains a lot and puddles can form on the ground.

Also when it changes seasons it will tell you in the chat so you aren't surprised when it snows or rains or the leaves fall off the trees. For people who don't want seasons or temperature you can turn each one off separately in the settings and temperature and seasons are automatically turned off in creative mode. Please comment suggestions on how to make this better.

posted a message on Nether Sponge

(I have completely changed this thread including the title and it is very different from what it used to be so update your comments please) I think that sponge should be able to suck up lava as well as water. But it will be a new type of sponge that, like regular sponge, can't be crafted. So you get it from Lava Temples as a drop from Fire Guardians. As you probably guessed Lava Temples are the Nether version of Ocean Monuments and have Nether Guardians as a replacement for regular Guardians and Fire Guardians as a replacement for Elder Guardians. A Fire Guardian will drop 0-2 Nether Bricks (the item not the block) 0-1 Blaze Rods, and a single Nether Sponge. (Nether Guardians drop the same thing minus the Nether Sponge) Lava Temples will be built of Nether Brick and Nether Sponge and have lava inside. It will also contain a treasure of 8 Quartz Blocks. Now I will explain Nether Sponge: As I said before it will able to suck up lava which turns it into Flaming Nether Sponge and to turn it back into regular Nether Sponge you put it in the crafting grid with a bucket of water. When placed Flaming Nether Sponge will look like it's on fire, glow red, drip lava particles, and deal 1/2 heart damage on contact. If you have any ideas of how to make this better please leave them in the comments.

I would like to see Chainmail armor to be craftable. But then there should be some other uses... (perhaps from other suggestions...)

Though if Chainmail Armor hasn't been able to be craftable yet, and its been in Minecraft for this long, there has to be a reason why it isn't craftable.

    Partial Support for now.

You used to be able to craft it with fire but now you can't get fire anymore so you can't craft it.
